A long time ago I worked as a fabric designer in Florence, creating prints for several Italian fashion labels. When I arrived back in Australia in 2010, there was next to no fabric-design work on offer, so I started teaching children’s art classes and painted whenever I could fit it in. I put my fabric-designing days behind me and focused on working towards painting full time.
To my absolute surprise, earlier this year I was approached by a press agent for Oscar de la Renta saying the New York label wanted me to create designs for their Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection.
I completed the work during Sydney lockdown and one sunny morning in September I woke to see my designs splashed across the most sublime collection of garments.
As a lovely bonus, Divya Venkataraman wrote about the collaboration for Vogue Australia:
I’m extremely fortunate to have another exciting fashion collab coming up very soon… Look forward to sharing the details!
